Please remember that colored ribbon may need a little more heat than black so if it looks faded, simply turn the heat settings up on your printer.
There are also printers on the market that use multiple ribbons to achieve a multi color label on one pass through the barcode printer. One of the most popular are the QLS printers. These printers allow you to put up to 4 color thermal transfer ribbons into the machine and print 4 colors onto a label with clean registration. Good for small jobs where plates can be really expensive or you have a variable image and graphics on each label.
Color thermal transfer ribbons add that distinctive quality to your labels. Many pharmaceuticals companies use them and change colors every month so they can know the date of product by visually looking at the color of the print on the labels.
We have also seen these used in companies that re-certify equipment. The application lets the managers know which shipment is to go out first and which equipment is not selling. The customer marks each months load with a different color print on the label. By checking the colors, there is a quick visual to tell how old the inventory is.
