Barcode Readers for the Law Enforcement Agencies & Public Safety Environments

The Barcode Industry has helped the law enforcement community through out the years to gather information more efficiently and effectively. The use of the CR2 and CR3 wireless or cabled barcode has help in eCitation, eCrash Reports, Roadside Checks, Chain-of -Custody and Asset Tracking Networking.

The code reader uses digital imaging to read barcodes and Dynamic Optimization Technology (DOT) to improve the performance of the resolution, illumination and imaging to ensure quality and correct data readings. The barcode reader uses firmware to read images and sends data to software through a palm-held devices or Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) that is located in a police vehicle, or to a host computer at the headquarters or main office.

Officers use the CR2 and CR3 to read valid Vehicle Registrations, VIN Numbers, and other I.D. registries. The data is immediate to the police officers and the information is transmitted wirelessly via connection to a MDT or palm-held component. Moreover, the user friendly devices (CR2 & CR3) are very adjustable from jumping to different applications before scanning bar codes and other information. JavaScript prepares data to be read by other applications (for instance Aspen) without other programming for precise retrieving information.

People in the public safety environments and law enforcement use the CR2 & CR3 Barcode Readers to find Chain-of-Custody by reading barcodes of evidence parcel and I.D. badges. The real time date stamp is placed on each scanned item to insure that the CR2 and CR3 is accurate in supporting the process of reading and decoding information. The tracking devices help identify and locate barcode items by reading labels and tags to make sure that data is updated and properly recorded on the database.

Law Enforcement and Public Safety Barcode Reader Features & Benefits

• Lightweight, compacted and ergonomically to the hand and for travel
• Digital imaging technology, chaperone by DOT, permits Code’s Readers to read all bar code symbols
• Two-way reporting enabling data to be received by officers from outside the police vehicle to double check ‘wants and warrants’ or find stolen automobiles
• Bluetooth transmission guarantees data will not be corrupted by any other Wi-Fi or wireless waves
• Cabled or wireless Readers provide use-case options for specific procedures
• Firmware prepares JavaScript for multiple software without other programs
• Updates are available to prolong the life of your Readers duration

Your Packaging & Labels Should Sell Your Products

I believe the reason we create labels is to sell products. To do this effectively you first need to understand your market, competitors and your customers. With this in mind, you can now start designing image and logo, copywriting and packaging. This is very specialized and requires trained professionals to assist in this process of labeling and packaging your product correctly.

Here are 5 questions to ask yourself when designing labels and packaging:

1.Finding and understanding your core customers?
2.Finding your competitors and their product packaging marketing strategies?
3.Finding and search the mind of your consumers that sop for your products and labels?
4.Finding and understanding your packaging; it’s Unique Selling Point (USP)?
5.Finding hot buttons that your consumer likes about your products and labels?

Thinking about these five questions above will help you to sell your products in a more efficient and profitable way (less shelf time and turnaround). Whether you are starting your design, product research and/or labels from scratch or have a product already developed it is always wise to consider the packaging and label design effect on your new customers and existing ones (surveys and questionnaires are a good way to find out about your products and labels impacted on the marketplace).

Specific Packaging & Labeling for Frozen Goods and Products

Packaging and labeling ice-cream and other frozen products are very delicate, because of its extreme temperatures and environmental conditions. With this in mind, you would have to pick the right paper materials and packaging to fit these cool and frozen conditions. In previous blogs, we talked about BOPP paper materials that is economical and durable and that fits this type of packaging and labeling (frozen goods). The material can withstand -20 degrees and works well with most commercial freezers.

Do not worry about your adhesives sticking to your frozen packaging, because the label is made to work with the packaging (even if the package is already frozen). At Adazon Label & Barcode Solutions we have customers that have many packaging and labeling needs and one of them is frozen labeling & packaging.

Five Cost Saving Examples When Buying Labels.

In these ruff financials times, it is prudent to be fugal. In the past year or so, the market has lost trillions of dollars and the economy is in a full-blown recession. Thoughts of saving money is on the minds each consumers and business owners. If you are in the process of selling (products) and need to save money when buying labels here are some areas to keep in mind when ordering or buying labels.

1. Buy the Smallest Labels: The smallest label uses less paper and ink and hence the cost of the label is much affordable. Being a smart consumer and have knowledge of the printing process, is a huge cost saving and less frustration in the end? At Adazon Label & Barcode Solutions they use sizes that best fits the presses and make it more cost effective (for example, 3 across versus 2 across for the 4” x 5”). I challenge you when buying labels to practice on different sizes and find the best fit for your products, labels and budget.

2. Order all at once: When you order your labels al that once with same size, and paper the order is treated as one (purchase order or PO). For example, if you have a 4oz container and an 8oz container it is possible to order the same sized label and save yourself the extra printing changes (very wise move). The fewer label sizes you use the more cost saving is possibly for you and your company.

3. Use cost effective paper/materials: BOPP paper is the cheapest, but the best results for the money with a high gloss laminate that is not so pricey. Cost is not equal to quality in this example; if you know what you are looking for you can look professional and fugal at the same time without compromising your products or labels.

4. Avoid Reorders: Avoiding reorders because of a mistake or misplaced label is a good way to waste money. Double checking your artwork and proof reading your label before placing an order is prudent and wise (less money on re-runs/reorders). Some label companies out there will proof read before printing as a quality control option for their customer (nice). Always remember to proof read and double check images/logos before giving the okay to run your projects and labels.

5. Taking your time in planning: Some companies charge extra fees for rush jobs. This is one mistake that will cost you dearly if planning is not done. Also, shipping cost are incurred if planning and timing are not done appropriately (the difference between shipping ground vs. overnight is substantial). When concerning cost and frugality always ship ground and plan a head of time for your labels to arrive on time.

Labels used in food storage range from paper thermal transfer labels to freezer grade labels that remain adhered in the most severe temperatures.

One element of a food storage label is the date code. This is the finite element that provides a visual reference allowing the stock person a see for rotation. The date codes can either be printed as a date or color coded and dated to provide an even more definite identifier.

Making a mark on the product in storage allows the stock person to quickly identify which product should be displayed first or put in front when fixing shelves. It provides the manager of the store a quick way to check that the rotation has been performed also.

Food rotation is critical to making profits in a grocery store. Limiting waist provides profits that go right to the bottom line. So making an identifying label that indicates whether the product has been rotated, means money to the bottom line. Make sure date coding and proper labeling is used to insure these savings. Then execution of the process will lock the savings in for good.

Bed bath and Beyond – Green Products – Labels & Packaging

Sustainable packaging & labels is an important part in buying products that are safe to the environment and the world we leave to the future generations. Moreover, as consumers we should be alert that contaminates and chemicals are affecting our lives and that we are responsible for the products we consume and put in our landfills.

Using green products for your labels and packaging and placing FSC Certified or recycled products, papers and inks is a first step in helping our earth renew itself. Also, using soy or vegetable based non-solvent inks for printing (onto packaging, labels and bar coding helps our environment recycling process). In becoming more responsible about the products and packaging that we use on a daily basis and in our businesses another contaminate to reduce from the environment is PVC finding packaging & labels that are free from the polluting agents that are in PVC packaging & labels.

In addition, to labels and packaging it is a wisdom idea to use product that are free materials like PEVA or EVA are a great substitute to be placed on your products and are a great public relations campaign for your company and consumer awareness (for example Starbuck’s Corporation is a great leader in this arena).

The Model Toxics in Packaging Act (Formerly Known as “CONEG” regulates the packaging & labeling companies from placing to much lead, cadmium, chromium, and mercury that could be in our products, packaging and labeling items. Every package and label that is sold in the United State has to be certified and adhere to the Packaging Act. Anyone that breaks the law will be subjected to fines and lost of privileges in doing business in the Untied States. It’s nice it know we have laws and practices in place to protect our environment and our future generations.

Bath and body works – Beauty Labels & Packaging

The bath and body works is an 11 billion dollar industry and according to the International Spa Association about 136 million people visit a spa each year. This is 4th largest leisure trade in the United States. That’s why it’s very important that you put a lot of attention to the labeling and packaging of your products.

The branding (image) and the feel of the packaging and labeling helps the consumer remember his/hers experience at your establishment. Picking the proper beauty labels, packaging and color said a lot to your customers about attention to details and going beyond the norm. Making the customer feel that they have something special just by having it in their hands (a good example is a Tiffany box; what women wouldn’t want a Tiffany Box).

I cannot stress anymore the importance of proper packaging and labeling (also remember color, size, design and image) which can make you stand out from your competitors and make you a household name in your industry.

Bath – Great Labels for Lotions & Soap Products

Great bathhouses like the Chicago Sweat Lodge and the Russian bathhouse in Chicago use labels and packaging for their men’s only establishments. In targeting the male clientele; labels and packaging for soap and lotions most portray the feeling that the product will do its job and make guys feel refreshed and not a feeling of a spa. Portraying masculinity in a product label and packaging is important, because guys do not like the feeling at they are using a woman’s products. Never forget that in designing soap and lotion labels for men it is important to use proper color, labeling and packaging that appeal to your target market.

In finding the best food labels for your company, critical elements include finding a label manufacturer that provides good prices, selections and solutions for your packaging, products and projects. One great solution to food labeling is utilizing bar coding and nutrition labeling which helps in inventory and health awareness. Label manufacturers have devised systems to help with specially designed labels to organize your company products, shelf life dating, and re-ordering (inventory & tracking) codes. Everything from Bakery (Wedding Cake Designers), Grocery Store Chains, Product and Development Companies, Start-up companies, and Catering Companies have benefited by using labels with the proper markings.

Reading Food labels

For example here’s one label that can be done for your company and/or products. The government is very adamant about how shoppers read their labels and the facts that relate to that particular food label product. If your company is in the food industry and you want to create specialize new labels for your new products or packaging department, make sure it includes the basics such as calories, fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrate and protein.

Customizing any organic food or generic label is very detailed but by taking the challenge to a label supplier that takes great pride and customer focus to produce great labels for your food needs, the end product will be a winner.

The Nutrition facts on the left hand side of the page is a great example of what the FDA requires and expects on each food product produce in the United States. Each food label is on a 2000 calorie a day diet that the government recommends per label.

Food Pyramid Labels

Using the food pyramid label can help shoppers and customers understand the product nutritional value in preparing meals. This is truly important in dietary restrictions for buyers that are in the process in regulating their sugar and calories intake. You must work closely with the customers and the FDA guideline chart to place the proper information and details necessary for each food label.

By using the food pyramid you do not have to avoid certain food or products. New labels and proper labeling using the food pyramid will help your customers choose the correct ingredients to identify good sources of fiber and vitamins and minerals.

Good label converters will help you with your food labels to create the perfect image, label, and bar coding for your company and products.

Food Storage Labels

Food storage labels are an essential part of running food corporation. Label manufacturers have helped grocery store, catering companies, and convenient stores track their inventory allowing them to buy, store, and rotate the food storage items.

Barcode printers, equipment, software and labels are designed to assist in keeping track of your food storage inventory. Anyone who stores food knows that the hardest thing about food storage is how to keep track of your inventory and an item’s rotation. Proper labels from the right label converters will produce using high-end flexographic presses or the latest in digital printing. High quality labels can be printed in one pass of up to seven colors that can resist the temperature changes that can occur in food storage facilities.

Labels and signs are used to communicate warnings and other important information regarding the contents of containers. All containers shall be checked to ensure they are properly label.
