Custom Window Stickers For House Windows Leave No Residue

There are all kinds of window stickers and window labels that can be used in many different applications. The types range from a static cling label that many gas stations use to remind the car owner of their next oil change to a permanent warning label that a manufacturer may put on their window warning of a falling hazard in upper story windows if leaned upon. When it comes to new construction, window stickers can be found throughout a new house. A common issue that a contractor or resident may have when they finish a new home is that the stickers left on all the new windows need to be removed. Some of these may be very tedious to remove. Scrapers or razor blades have been used to peal the stickers off and many times the window is scratched. Lately some of the window manufacturers have discovered and used removable adhesive labels that make it much easier to take off and eliminate any chance of damaging the window.

A new technology in window labels has come out and is directed at the window manufacturers. This technology is based on a couple of issues. First, the reason for many of the labels on a newly manufactured window is to gain brand recognition through advertising. Second is to provide valuable statistics to the contractor or installer about the specs of the window. Once the window is purchased and on location, most of the labels are not needed anymore. This is where the new technology comes in.Window Stickers

This technology is based on a highly removable adhesive that leaves no residue when removed and an innovative laminate that is on the surface of the label. The labels can be preprinted with 4-color process and variable imaging and can be made of a paper stock or poly stock.

The key to this technology is the laminate that is on the surface of the label and the component that makes this laminate stick to the shrink-wrap packaging. Most of these windows, when delivered, will be shrink wrapped to protect them in shipment. The shrink-wrapping is then removed on the job site. The new label technology allows the label that is on the window to adhere back to the shrink-wrap and come off the window as the packaging material is removed.

Think of the productivity in this idea. Packaging and labels all come off in one process. The window has the promotional and application labels through the marketing process and branding process as they are transported to the job site. They are then removed as the packaging is removed leaving no residue and preventing product damage.

This really applies to only the labels that you need to remove. The safety and documentation labels that are found in the frame of the window usually stay on the window providing valuable tracking and serial number information. These should be applied with permanent adhesive and sometimes with a poly face stock to make the label abrasion proof and weather proof.

Another material that could be used is a static cling label. This label can be removed without leaving an adhesive residue because is does not use adhesive at all. This is a poly material that adheres using the static in the poly attracting it to the glass. The reason this is not commonly used by window manufacturers is that the material cost is too high and it adds too much overall cost to the finished product.

Other options have been for window manufacturers to use regular removable adhesive for labels that go on the finished product. The problem with using the basic removable adhesive is that the longer the adhesive remains on the window, the harder it is to take off. All adhesive will become permanent over time.

Another option is to use a poly with removable adhesive so the label will not rip when the installer or user tries to remove it from the window. This will make it easier to remove, even if the adhesive has set up a bit. But a removable adhesive poly is typically a custom product, which will cost more.

Taking all this into consideration, the new label that removes as the packing is taken off, continues to have great potential to solving many of the problems with adhesive labels on windows. As the market becomes aware of this product, the availability will expand and the material will become a stock product for most converters providing a great product at a cost effective price point.
