Primera LX410 and LX810 Water Resistant Printer Labels

Do you ever have the ink run on your Primera printer labels? Is it due to moisture or humid conditions? Well, the answer may be in the label stock used in the Primera printer. Primera lx810 Primera lx400 printerThe standard label stock is a high gloss that has some water resistance to it, but is not meant to get too wet. There are really 3 options with this printer on materials.

First, lets explain the Primera printer. This printer comes in 2 models. The first is a Primera LX810 and the next is a Primera LX400. The Primera LX810 is the next generation from the LX800. This printer will print up to a 8.25 inch label. The LX400 prints up to 4.25 inches wide on a label. Both printers use a ink jet technology to print on the labels. The ink cartridges come as a black die-based ink and a black pigment-based ink cartridge for the LX810 printer and only a color ink for the LX400. These printers are perfect for a winery or boutique product shop that does not want to invest a fortune in custom, high quality product labels. They allow the user to make their own quality labels and to change the art and text at will.

Back to the label stock now. If the need is only to mark the product with a nice image to promote the item, then the semi gloss label will work. This label is not very resistant to scratches or moisture and is slowly being phased out. If the need is more advanced and the product may get some moisture from a cooler or splashes from a sink, then the option should be either the more water resistant high gloss label or the synthetic material that can be fully submerged. The high gloss is still paper and full submersion is not recommended with this, but with the synthetic, this is possible.

There is still a risk that the ink itself will come off, because this is an ink jet process, but the label will be in good shape. Now to really get a label that will withstand the elements, a custom screen print of over-laminated label will do the trick, so just contact us and we can help, but for the LX810 and LX400, these are your options today.

Just in on the Primera Label Stock program. Primera is working on a new material that will be completely water resistant and should come out with this product in February.

This will be perfect for Winery’s making custom wedding labels and more.
