After researching and reading reviews, I had found that the diversity in the reviews caused more uncertainty than before. So since I had a iphone 4g 32gb, I figured that I would download more than one barcode reader. I downloaded Scandit, ShopSavvy, RedLaser, and Consumer Reports barcode reader. All of these applications had worked. I found that Scandit performed better on picking up the scan especially on rounded surfaces. Also Scandit and ShopSavvy provided much more information and lower prices than RedLaser. I'm not counting consumer reports because that is more on product description, testing, and ratings and not really for getting the best bang for the buck even though they do provide places to purchase the item. In my opinion, and again just in my opinion, the best one is Scandit, ShopSavvy comes in second, and Redlaser last. All these applications were free with the iphone 4g. The CR barcode is $9.99 for the year.

Red Laser is not like a regular scanner. It takes very long to scan the barcode.
