We are already getting feedback from our first install of the new Kyman Net Scanner in one of our distribution customers. The first application is to use the Kyman in a darkly lit warehouse for inventory receiving 
and to have the the Kyman recognize many different symbologies that come in from a variety of different manufacturers. Most of the symbologies are 3 of 9, but you cannot count on that.
The customer scans the item to match it and receive it against the expected receipt documentation. The second application is then to put the product away, on the designated shelf and log it into inventory. This customer does this by scanning the item, entering the quantity, then scanning the shelf location and submitting.
The third application is to pick the items for shipment to the customer when ordered. The process is done with the Kyman and the customer scans the item to verify it is the correct item, then the location to confirm it is in the correct location and then the quantity is entered. The item is taken to the shipping area, where the shipment is completed.
We tested many different scanners for this application. The list included the MC 3090G, The HHP Dolphin 9550, the Dolphin 7850, the AML 7100 and the Scorpio by Datalogic. The Kyman won hands down because of the keyboard configuration, the speed of scan, the green light option that Datalogic uses to verify a good scan and show which barcode was actually scanned. The other selling feature of this over the others was the screen size and brightness. Because this customer works in a dark environment, the screen brightness is critical. The Kyman won in this comparison.
This customer is using VT220 Emulation so all the units tested worked with this. The Kyman comes prepared to use this emulator right away. The customer also had a need for the dash, forward slash, and underscore which made it hard for models like the Dolphin 7850. As we continue to install this unit in this customers network of over 20 warehouses nation wide, we will keep you posted of any issues are other benefits we find.
