thermal barcode labels react
to the heat from the print
head. This sensitivity to heat
makes the label life shorter
than a thermal transfer label
meaning these labels will fade
over time. There are both
coated and uncoated versions
of this label in the market
today, usually called Premium
and Standard. The coating on
the direct thermal labels do
make them a little less
sensitive to sun light and
